They say charity begins at home. And right here, your assistance is needed. Your time and/or money goes a long way in helping Hurricane Harvey evacuees right now. Text HARVEY to 90999 (American Red Cross) or STORM to 51555 (Salvation Army). This sends a $10 donation to the corresponding organization. The charge shows up on your next cell phone bill. For a more tactile response, drop off non-perishable foodstuffs, diapers (adult and infant), baby formula, feminine hygiene products, toiletries, etc. to Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Or, contact the Salvation Army to volunteer your time serving meals.
Tyler Transitional Hub
First of all, the City opened up a transitional hub at the Faulkner Police Station (574 W Cumberland). They help Hurricane Harvey evacuees locate resources to help them through this difficult time. Evacuees can sign up for FEMA assistance here as well. Volunteers at the station also direct dislocated people to shelters in the DFW area. For more info, please email [email protected].
Temporary Transitional Shelter
Next, our local American Red Cross set up a temporary transitional shelter at St Louis Baptist Church (4000 Frankston Hwy). This gives evacuees a chance to take a shower, grab a snack and rest. Hurricane Harvey evacuees may also sign up for FEMA assistance here. For more info, email Tammy Prater, Executive Director at [email protected].
