Never underestimate the power of reading. According to DoSomething.org, one in four American children cannot read. In fact, kids who can’t read at a proficient level by 3rd grade quadruple their chances of dropping out of school altogether. Lower income levels appear to factor into literacy rates. For the past several weeks, staff members have scoured the stacks, looking for items to include in the Tyler Library Fall 2017 Book Sale. Items for sale include books for kids and adults (fiction as well as non-fiction), audio books, videotapes and music cassettes. Some book sale items come from duplicate donations while others have been pulled from the library’s regular circulation. You’ll find everything from historical fiction to biographies, young adult novels to children’s stories and so much more. The staff restocks book sale shelves each day. So, visit the library more than once to see what new treasures await. All money raised from the book sale will be used to purchase new books and other resources for the library.
