Weather in Hideaway
Hideaway’s weather differs from the dry, desert-like climate Texas is known for. Summers are hot, but more humid due to the Gulf sending a subtropical jet stream northward. Winters are mild with occasional cold snaps but not much snow. Rain is more likely during winter with thunderstorms in the spring and summer. As a result, pine forests like those found in the southeast are the predominant land feature with rolling hills and plains.

The gated community of Hideaway dates back to 1967 when the first lots were sold and developed. It was touted as a weekend retreat from the cities of Dallas and Shreveport. Originally, Hideaway was just a resort club. But in 2001 it became an official town and is now home to at least 3,000 residents.
