Looking for something to do this weekend? Need something the whole family can enjoy? Try some of the Downtown Tyler Second Saturday events scheduled for September 9th.
Downtown Tyler Second Saturday
Downtown Tyler always offers great shopping, food and fun. But Downtown Tyler Second Saturday (aka “Hit the Bricks”) provides even more family-friendly entertainment. Just as the name implies, the downtown Tyler area becomes THE weekend destination for visitors and residents alike. Vendors and activities vary each month. That’s why you need to come back again and again. And beginning at 2pm, a free shuttle takes you around the downtown area. Just hop on and hop off.
Downtown Tyler Second Saturday Events
For September’s Downtown Tyler Second Saturday, the Goodman Museum invites you to join their scavenger hunt. Or, go on a real treasure hunt at Ye Olde City Antique Mall (10am to 7pm). Get your face painted on the square from 11am to 5pm. Liberty Hall hosts a film festival from 3pm to 5pm. Then, you might want to visit Martin Walker from 7pm to 10pm to see their juried art show AASH Vol2.
Historical Tours of Downtown Tyler
Want to be more active? Then try a self-guided walking tour around the square. Download a digital brochure to learn all about significant historical events and figures linked to our little town. For $8 per person, take a “haunted” walking tour of Downtown Tyler. For $15, ride instead of walk. The walking tour takes off at 8:30pm while the riding tour begins at 9:30pm.
Live Musical Entertainment
Each Downtown Tyler Second Saturday event features a new musical guest. Tomorrow, Hannah Dot Cook, a very young singer/songwriter from Chandler, performs on the square from 2pm to 3pm. Then, mosey over to ETX Brewing for Metrograde, live and in person, from 8pm to 10pm. Bring along some easy-to-open canned goods to donate to the East Texas Food Bank. ETX accepts canned goods between now and September 30th for the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Interested in a little R&B? Then you need to go to The Garage Bar. Finally, Professor D & the Playschool plays all the fun, funky hits from Motown to Disco at Rick’s on the Square.
Can’t make it this Saturday? The next Downtown Tyler Second Saturday event takes place on October 14th. They’re sure to host a more Halloween-centric theme then. Enjoy!
